TYPES OF MASS FIREARMS PERMITS

There are three types of firearms permits available in Mass.  Massachusetts Requires all gun owners to possess a License
  • Firearms Identification Card - Also Known As FID Card
  • Class B License to carry
  • Class A License To Carry
  • There Is Also A Machine Gun (Full Auto Permit) Which will not be discussed here.

FID CARD

Must be 18 Years OldYears Old or 15 With Parent Permission
Allows Chemical Spray (mace-pepper spray) 
Non-Large Capacity Rifles & Shotguns and Ammunition.
SHALL Issue Permit

Class B LTC

Must Be 21 Years Old 
May Issue Permit
Non-Large Capacity Handguns
Large Capacity Rifles & Shotguns
Mace-Pepper Spray & Ammunition
Does Not Allow Concealed Carry

Class A LTC

Must Be 21 Years Old 
May Issue Permit
Large Capacity Handguns
Large Capacity Rifles & Shotguns
Mace-Pepper Spray & Ammunition
Allows Concealed Carry
